TND: ROCHESTER, N.Y. On Friday, a transgender collegiate track and field athlete from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in New York broke two new marks.
At the RIT January Friday Meet, Sadie Schreiner broke the 200-meter record and earned a spot in the Atlantic Region Championship with a mark of 25.27 seconds. The runner finished in 40.78 seconds, shattering the 300-meter record as well.
“Last weekend’s wild meet!” Instagram posts from Schreiner. “Running until I can no longer walk.”
In addition, the sophomore won the Liberty League Women’s Track & Field Performer of the Week title after finishing first in the 4×400-meter relay. Schreiner’s performance on the website X, which was formerly known as Twitter, was criticized by the Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS).
